President’s Post

Well Christmas is just around the corner and I expect like me you are busy, busy, busy!
I have been covering place-mats with wrapping paper, assembling and filling gold boxes with chocolates and all the other bits Violet McMonnies showed us how to do! Laying the Christmas table is one of my favourite things about Christmas. I loved her ideas and really enjoyed our last meeting and hope you all did too.

I was overwhelmed by all of your kindness in filling shoe boxes for the local Womens Refuge and I think the representatives who came to collect them were too. Thank you very much to everyone who took the time to think about another woman or child who are spending their Christmas away from home.

Our Christmas celebrations carry on into January with our celebratory meal at The Snow Goose on 19th January. You will have had an email today from Amanda requesting you contact her with your choices and how to pay. we always have an enjoyable evening – so please come along we look forward to seeing you.

At our first meeting in January we will be spending a few minutes looking at the WI resolutions. If you get time over the next few weeks head on over to the https://www.thewi.org.uk and search for the 2018 resolutions and have a read.

We are looking for a new Treasurer next year. Vikki has done a sterling job for the past three years and her term in office is at an end. We cannot run the WI-Flyers without a Treasurer and it could put us under threat of closure (sorry it has to be said) if we don’t find a volunteer. Anyone is welcome to shadow Vikki for the next few months to see what she does and see if they might be interested in the role. Please let myself, Amanda or Vikki know at the next meeting or before!

Well it only leaves me now to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Hope to see you on 19th January 2018!

Rachel
