Happy New Year to you All. I hope you all had a good Christmas and New year. Its been a while………

Our first meeting of the year is next Wednesday – 23rd January and we are discussing the WI Resolutions for 2019.

Introducing WI Campaigns

Formed in 1915, the WI has a long history of campaigning on a wide range of issues.

WI campaigns are about changing things for the better and tackling the issues that matter to members. Members are at the heart of the WI and they play a central role in bringing issues onto the WI’s national agenda through our public affairs and campaigning.

From equal pay to climate change, from gaps in the midwifery workforce to the plight of the honey bee, WI members have embraced a diverse set of challenges and built a reputation for the WI as a practical and ambitious organisation that doesn’t shy away from tricky issues.

Our resolutions and mandates process means every campaign starts within our membership.
Read more about the wide range of WI campaigns and some recent successes, and see our campaigning history through snapshots going back to 1926.

The Committee will present this years resolutions to the meeting by using the media of PowerPoint, discussion and Quizzes. At least three of this years resolutions are relevant to us as Women and the other three relevant to our communities. Please join us for this important meeting followed (hopefully if time allows) a game.

Bring and Buy Table

Don’t forget our ‘Bring and Buy Table – maybe you have an unwanted Christmas Gift (we won’t tell) or a plant or book that you no longer need? Bring it along and help us raise some much needed funds (please remember to take home if still on the table at the end of the evening!)

Subscriptions 2019

Subs for 2019 are now due and can be paid to Wendy – by Cash, Cheque or by Bank Transfer. The amount this year is £42.

Walking Group

The WI -Flyers Walking Group will start off this year on February 17th with a two hour walk in Winchfield. We will meet at The Canal side Car Park (near the Barley Mow Pub at 10:30. Husbands, children and dogs all welcome. Confirmed details will follow.

Communications

We are in the process of setting up a new facebook page. More information as to how to join the group will be coming soon.

The Committee are looking to improve our communications with our members and finding new ways to encourage new members.

New members

Visitors are always welcome to come along to our meetings for a couple of months to see if they would like to join us – so if you know of any friends / neighbours / colleagues who you think might enjoy the WI please bring them along.

See you Wednesday!

Rachel
